Getting Started
To run PHP properly you will need the following. (On this site you only ever check the sample output, so you can work through the lessons without setting any of this up right now.)
- PHP itself: install it from the official site (php.net).
- A local server environment: XAMPP or MAMP bundles PHP, a web server, and a database together.
- An editor: Visual Studio Code (free) is a good choice.
Once you are set up, create a file such as script.php and run it from a terminal with php script.php.
