This lesson covers basic string handling with the String type.
Rust has two main string types: String, which owns its data, and &str, which is used as a reference. String comes with handy methods such as len(), push_str(), and to_uppercase().
The sample code converts to upper case with message.to_uppercase() and checks the byte length with message.len().
A common early stumble is the difference between String and &str. "A string you own (and can modify) is a String; a string you have only borrowed is a &str" makes the choice easier.
In professional work, the common split is &str for function parameters, since it accepts more, and String for data you hold on to and change.
