Restarting with docker restart
When you want to stop and start in one step, use docker restart. It does exactly what docker stop followed by docker start would do.
The syntax is docker restart container.
Running docker restart web stops the container and immediately starts it again — handy for picking up a changed configuration.
A common stumble is expecting a restart to pick up changes that actually require a rebuild. Editing the source of a running image needs docker build and a fresh docker run.
In real work, it is the quick fix for applying a config change or clearing a wedged process.
