Deleting a Function with aws lambda delete-function
When a function is no longer needed, use aws lambda delete-function. It removes the function permanently.
The syntax is aws lambda delete-function --function-name name.
Running aws lambda delete-function my-func deletes it, returning nothing on success.
A common stumble is leaving the triggers behind. Event source mappings and permissions may survive the function and need clearing separately.
In real work, deleting unused functions keeps an account comprehensible and reduces the surface you have to secure.
